City of Lake Worth Beach Equal Business Opportunity Program
Purpose:
To Promote City of Lake Worth Beach Economic Growth through Fair and Equitable Trade
with the City of Lake Worth Beach Small Businesses
Business Requirements:
- Must be a Licensed Business with Corporate Office Located inside the
Boundaries of the City of Lake Worth Beach
- Business Owner Must Reside in The City of Lake Worth Beach
- Minimum 35% of Business’ Employees Reside in The City of Lake Worth Beach
- Business is a Palm Beach County Certified S/M/WBE (Small Business Enterprise)
The City of Lake Worth Beach Will:
- Accept Palm Beach County’s S/M/WBE Certification
- In conjunction with the CRA, Compile a Preferred Vendor Database
- In conjunction with the CRA, encourage all Contractors/Developers/Businesses to send RFQ’s, RFP’s and IFBs etc. to all Preferred Venders who meet Project/Bid Qualifications
- Then Contractors/Developers/Businesses will agree any Qualified Preferred Vender coming within 5% of the lowest bid will be awarded the contract
- All City of Lake Worth Beach Projects over $500,000 would require the Prime Contractor/Developer/Business to adhere to a 15% Subcontractor participation rate (in purchased goods and/or services) through the City’s Preferred Venders (whenever such qualified Lake Worth Beach Preferred Vender business(es) exist) unless contract is awarded to a City of Lake Worth Beach S/M/WBE. (Suggestion for upcoming Revised Charter Review)
NOTE: To be most effective, the 15% participation requirement would be extended, in the revised charter, to include both new and existing contracts (i.e. Davie, PBSO etc.) with the City of Lake Worth Beach.
